Elden Ray Carter, 90, of Waynesburg, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026. Born on July 2, 1935, in Hopedale, Ohio he was the son of the late Bill and Katherine "Kate" Carter.
For over forty years, Elden worked for R.G. Johnson Company, Inc., specializing in mine shaft and slope construction. He had a love for the outdoors, enjoying both fishing and hunting. You could find him with a rifle or crossbow in hand during deer season, or raccoon hunting at Blacks Creek. He participated in tournaments for largest fur. Beyond hunting, he also enjoyed gardening.
Elden will be remembered by his wife and lifelong partner, Sylvia; son, Michael R. Carter of Utica, Ohio; daughters, Vicky Carter of Bobtown, Pa. & Brandy Hammett, of Waynesburg, Pa; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Joseph and Phillip Carter; daughter, Cindy Carter; brother, Bud Carter; sister, Grace Mutton; and granddaughters, Tracey Thomas and Katie.
Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Inc., Carmichaels. Interment will follow at Centennial Cemetery, 509 Aleppo Road, Aleppo, PA 15310.
