Florence M. Smearcheck, 94, of Nemacolin, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. She was born July 16, 1930 in Menallen Township, Fayette County, Pa., a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Vavrek) Bogacik. Mrs. Smearcheck was a member of the St. Matthias Parish and a former member of the Rosary Altar Society at the former Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. As a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, baking and taking care of her family. On August 25, 1951, she married William E. Smearcheck, who died September 9, 2013.
Surviving are a son, Rick Smearcheck (Debbie) of North Canton, Ohio; a daughter, Renee Bosco (Bob) of Waynesburg, Pa.; six grandchildren, Mark Smearcheck (Dylan), Jeffrey Smearcheck (Lauren), Matthew Smearcheck (Samantha), William Smearcheck, III, Laura Coss (Jeffrey) and Robert Bosco, Jr. (Alicia); 10 great grandchildren, Kristen Coss, Brett Coss, Wesley Bosco, Colton Bosco, Ben Smearcheck, Ellie Smearcheck, Liliana Smearcheck, Madison Smearcheck, Kacey Smearcheck and Cole Smearcheck and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a son, William B. Smearcheck, Jr. and three sisters, Lillian Fiorelli, Irene Kalasky and Patricia Morgan.
The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living, Waynesburg, Pa.
Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 8 P.M. on Thursday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 7, 2025, followed at 11:00 A.M. by a Mass of the Resurrection at the St. Matthias Parish at St. Hugh, Carmichaels with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski as the celebrant.
Entombment will follow at the mausoleum at Greene County Memorial Park.
