Fred "Skip" Clark, Sr.

December 2, 1940 — January 6, 2021

Fred C. "Skip" Clark, Sr., 80, of Carmichaels, Pa. and formerly of Crucible, Pa., passed away at 2:45 P.M. on Wednesday January 6, 2021 in the J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. He was born December 2, 1940 in Sewickley, Pa., a son of the late Fred L. Clark and Harriett Kathleen (Frederick) Clark Haywood Jones. Skip was a 1958 graduate of Cumberland Township High School. Before serving his country in the military, he worked at dairy farms in the Carmichaels area. From 1963 to 1965, Skip served in the U. S. Army with Co. C of the 504th Military Police Battalion at Fort Lewis, Washington. Afterward, he was stationed at Mannheim, Germany with the 527th Military Police Company. While residing in Ohio from 1966 until 1973, Skip worked for Davey Tree, Chrysler Corporation and Krogers. Upon relocating back to Greene County in 1973, he worked at the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine in Greensboro from 1975 until 1988 and served on the mine rescue team. In 1990, Skip was hired as an asbestos worker at the W. V. U. Health Science Center where he served on the staff council for the local union.

Skip was a former member of Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and served as an elder and deacon at the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels. In addition, he was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics from 1958 until 1962, was past councilor of Lodge No. 537 in Carmichaels. Skip served as secretary treasurer of the Crucible Volunteer Fire Company and was currently an honorary member of the fire company. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and playing golf and church dart ball. He especially cherished the company of his grandchildren.

On May 28, 1966, Skip married Mary E. Zappone, who passed away on April 13, 2015. Surviving are two sons, Fred C. Clark, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, of Carmichaels and Michael Clark and his wife, Marcie, of Greensboro; a daughter, Ruth Ann Clark of Carmichaels; six grandchildren, Fred C. Clark, III, Gabrielle Clark, Aliceon Clark, Noah Clark, Nathanial Shaffer and Paul Shaffer, Jr.; a sister, Kathleen L. Vidunas of Indiana, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a daughter, Christine Elizabeth Clark, who died in infancy.

Family and friends are welcome to attend the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, 104 E. Greene St., Carmichaels. Pastor P. Keith Larson will officiate.

Due to the current restrictions during the pandemic and the family's request, face masks and social distancing will be required in the church .
