Gerald Jerry Metz

Gerald Jerry Metz, age 72 of Carmichaels, formerly of Jefferson, Pa. died Wednesday, September 11, 2019 in his home.  He was born June 9, 1947 in Crucible, Pa., a son of the late Daniel and Helen (Nester) Metz.  He was a 1967 graduate of Carmichaels Area High School.  Mr. Metz was a Veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam Era.  He worked for LTV Steel for a brief time before working nearly 30 combine years at Buckeye and Emerald Coal Companies and was a member of the UMWA Local 2258.  Mr. Metz was protestant by faith.  On June 22, 1993 he married Kathleen (Fowler) Metz, who survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Gerald R. Metz, and his wife, Corie of Crucible, Michael R. Metz of Carmichaels, Eric Riley, and his wife, Tonya of Masontown, Pa., Michael Riley, and his wife, Brenda of Fairmont, W.Va. and Jared Riley, and his wife, Veronica of Monongahela, Pa.; a daughter Silvia Sue Metz of Bentleyville, Pa. and two grandchildren, Gabby and Gabe Metz.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Duke.  Deceased in addition to his parents are two sisters, Mildred McCoy and Stella Summerson and three brothers, Alex, Mike and Eli Metz.

Family and friends are welcome from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 15, 2019 where a service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Shirley Victor officiating in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa.  Military honors will be accorded by the Cumberland American Legion Post 400.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the family to help offset funeral costs.
