Homer R. (Ray) Headlee III, 67, of Cassville WV, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday December 3, 2023 in his home. He was born March 19, 1956 in Morgantown WV, a son of the late Homer Raymond Headlee Jr. and Jeanette Davis Headlee McConnell of Georgia, also deceased. Ray graduated from Carmichaels High School in 1974 and went on to college at West Virginia University majoring in accounting. He then followed in his father and grandfather's footsteps by joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union (IBEW) where he became an electrician by trade. Ray also served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany during his service and ultimately received an honorable discharge. Ray was a kindhearted, loving man who spent much of his young life helping out on the family dairy farm where he gained a love for animals and learned the value of hard work. He enjoyed having a dog by his side, was enthralled by chess, liked to read extensively to broaden his mind, dabbled deeply into computer programming and playing cards to pass the time. Ray also had an undeniable love for MGB sports cars and owned multiples throughout his younger years. He enjoyed traveling to Georgia to visit with his extended family there and spent a decade residing in Arkansas before returning home to West Virginia for the remainder of his life. In his retirement years he purchased the family rental business from his aging father where he maintained and managed multiple properties until his untimely death. Ray is survived by his stepmother of 58 years, Sandra Headlee of Carmichaels Pa., a sister, Marianne Strope (Larry) of Carmichaels Pa., stepsiblings, Jeannie McConnell of Georgia, John McConnell of Georgia, John Henderson (Alice) of Waynesburg Pa., Edward Headlee (Mary) of Carmichaels Pa., David Headlee (Allie) of Fredericktown Pa., Linda Robuck (George) of Adger, Alabama, Michael Headlee of Jefferson Pa. and Amy Gomez (Daniel) of Carmichaels Pa.. Also surviving is one Aunt, Clara Belle Hicks of Georgia and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, grandparents Homer R and Virginia Headlee Sr., Finn and Mae Davis, Mona and John Clark, multiple aunts and uncles and a sister, Cheryl L Cloutier. A private family memorial will take place at a later date and military honors will be provided.
