James V. Arter, Ii

October 11, 1949 — April 3, 2024

James V. Arter, II, of Bethel Park, entered our Lord's eternal rest on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at McMurray Hills Manor in Peters Township following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 11, 1949, in Waynesburg, Pa. to the late Dr. James V. and Katherine Arter.  James was a graduate of Carmichaels Area High School, West Virginia Wesleyan College, and ICM School of Business.  He was employed as a computer systems analyst for International Paper in Savannah, Ga. and Consol Energy in Upper St. Clair prior to his retirement in 2003.  James was a member of Ruthfred Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethel Park and recently attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Leechburg, where his son is pastor. In his spare time, he enjoyed classical music, traveling to Florida, walking his dogs and spending time with his family.  James will be remembered for his faith, patient spirit and devotion to his children.

James is survived by Sharon, his wife of 47 years; his son, Rev. James (Rev. Elizabeth) of Lower Burrell; his daughter, Kristin, of Bethel Park and his granddaughter, Rebecca, of Lower Burrell.  He is also survived by his brother David (Cheryl) of Green Tree.

At James's request, all arrangements are private.  He will be laid to rest at Greene County Memorial Park in Waynesburg.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 358 Main St., Leechburg, PA 15656.
