Jean Meighen Barnhart

Jean Meighen Barnhart, 94, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at the J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. She was a lifelong resident of Greene County, most recently as a patient at the Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Barnhart was the daughter of the late James L. and Olive (Murphy) Meighen and the widow of William H. Barnhart, whom she married on October 22, 1960. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William E. Meighen.

Mrs. Barnhart was a graduate of Waynesburg High School and completed her business training courses in Pittsburgh. She was employed for several years as the office manager of City Finance in Waynesburg. From its founding in 1963 until 1980 she managed the administrative functions for Kleer Kable Company, working alongside her husband, who was a co-founder and co-owner. Mrs. Barnhart had a sharp wit and sense of humor, was an avid reader and enjoyed attending horse racing and equestrian related events. She was a member of the Washington Street Methodist Church for many years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving to mourn her passing are her daughter Beverly White (Ray) of East Stroudsburg, Pa.; her son William Douglas Barnhart of Waynesburg; her sister-in-law, Jesse Reed Meighen also of Waynesburg. Also surviving are grandchildren, Teri Carver (John) of Virginia Beach, Va., Michael White of Nazareth, Pa., Matthew White (Byanca) of Montgomery, Ill., Ariel Barnhart of Portsmouth, Va. and Beverly Barnhart of Los Angeles, Cal., a nephew, James W. Meighen (Melinda) of Bradford Woods, Pa. and a niece, Leslie A. Weaver (George) of Boiling Springs, Pa. She also has eight great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and other extended family including great and great great nieces and nephews.

All arrangements are private.
