Jerry Yoskovich, 78, of Greensboro, Pa, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Friday, January 2, 2026. He was born on June 10, 1947, to the late Joseph Yoskovich and Alice Lako Yoskovich (Burich).
Jerry was a 1965 graduate of Mapletown High School, where he was a stand-out athlete in both baseball and football. His first job was working with his brother for a family friend, Wayne Headlee, at a local sawmill. He later took a job in the auto-building industry in Cleveland, Ohio, to which he commuted by motorcycle each week. In 1966, Jerry was drafted into the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from active duty in 1968, he began work for American General Life Insurance Company. He also bought the farm where he would live for the rest of his life and raise his family. Most of Jerry’s days included multiple changes from suits to work clothes, as he switched between his insurance job and farming; and often back again. Horses and cattle were a constant part of his life. He loved doing things the “old-fashioned” way, and at times farmed with teams of Belgian horses and mules.
Jerry also loved the outdoors and hunting. Over the years he raised beagles and hounds and enjoyed many hours in the woods with family and friends, including all his buddies at “Camp Greensboro” in Elk County.
Together with his wife and family, Jerry also owned and operated The Grocery Bag from 1981 until 1998. During that time, he was elected to the position of Monongahela Township Supervisor. Finally, his work life came full circle when he bought his own sawmill and began Yoskovich Custom Sawing. Jerry would eventually pass that equipment and legacy on to his sons.
Throughout Jerry’s life and work, one thing always remained constant, his love for people. He exemplified the biblical principle of showing hospitality to strangers and to anyone in need, as is evidenced by the many friends whose lives he impacted - and who will now keenly feel his absence in this world. Among them, the staff and his “crew” at Davita Dialysis, with whom he spent so much time over the past year and a half.
Jerry leaves behind three children, Stacey (Tommy) Flynn, of Greensboro, Pa, Joe (Tess) Yoskovich, of Meridian, Miss., and Matthew (Kathryn) Yoskovich, of Meridian, Miss. Also, grandchildren, Brandi (Cody) Triplett, Ian (Emma) Flynn, Janie and Josie Yoskovich, and Roxie and Lott Henson. And finally, two great-grandchildren, Jett Flynn Triplett and Oakleigh Rose Flynn – both born in 2025, bringing Jerry new and uniquely special joy. To know Jerry was to also know how immensely proud he was of each one of his children and grandchildren.
Jerry is also survived by his beloved siblings, Gary (Beverly) Yoskovich and Dorothy Ann Podolinski. Having lost both of their parents relatively early in life, the three shared a unique bond that not even death can sever. Dorothy Ann stepped into the role of family matriarch with selfless grace, and has loved, cared for, and looked after Jerry with pure devotion. His good buddy, John Shultz, also always welcomed him into his home, life, and social calendar with open arms.
Beyond his immediate family, Jerry also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews, cousins, and one surviving aunt, Dorothy Ann Fera, of Hillsborough, NC.
Although Jerry’s passing leaves a tremendous void, his family does not grieve as those without hope. Having attended church all his life, Jerry’s faith only grew deeper and stronger with the passing of years. Through this past summer, he attended a weekly Bible study under the direction of Pastor Richard Everly, where he truly learned - and became always excited to share - what it means to be saved by grace through faith in Christ alone.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Samuel Burich, and step brother, Paul Burich.
Family and friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Yoskovich Funeral Home, Inc., Carmichaels. Private interment will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
