John W Rowe

John W. Rowe, 78, of Garards Fort, Pa., passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025.  He was born February 2, 1946 in Morgantown, W. Va., a son of the late John W. and Hattie B. (Wilson) Rowe.  John was a lifelong resident of Greene County and was a 1964 graduate of Mapletown High School.  He served in the U. S. Army in German during the Vietnam Era and retired from the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine.   John was a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church and the White Covered Bridge Association.  He enjoyed storytelling, spending time outdoors, especially autumn in the woods, photography, hunting and fishing.  On August 30, 1969, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Mildred Hazel Porterfield, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" R. Redinger (Craig) of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two grandchildren, Andrew T. Redinger and Elizabeth "Lizzie" M. Redinger; two brothers, Arthur A. Rowe (Donna) and David L. Rowe (Nancy), both of Carmichaels, Pa.; a sister, Dorothy I. Kennedy of Dilliner, Pa. and several nieces and nephews.  Deceased are two sons, Matthew John and Jeffery Allen Rowe and a brother-in-law, Billie N. Kennedy.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.  Pastor Harry Hawk will officiate.

Interment will follow at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown with military honors accorded by the U. S. Army and the Greene County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Sugar Grove Baptist Church.
