John Hurley Weaver

August 1, 1930 — October 20, 2024

John Hurley Weaver, 94, of Mount Morris, Pa. died on Sunday, October 20, 2024 of heart failure.  He was born on August 1, 1930 in Morgantown, W. Va. to Willabelle Copeland Weaver and Arthur Hurley Weaver.  John graduated from Waynesburg High School and afterward, joined the United States Navy.

In 1952, John married Donna Jean Batten. The two were parents to John Michael Weaver, who survives.  Also surviving are grandsons, Nicholas Alexander Weaver and Spencer Michael Weaver; sisters, Nellie Yanak of Waynesburg and Carol Phillips of Phoenix, Ariz. and a brother, Robert Weaver of Canton, Ohio.  John was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Ball and Mary Ann Tennant and two brothers, Richard Weaver and James Weaver.

While living in California, John attended the LA Trade-Technical College, was a member of The Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and appeared in many television shows and commercials.  He was a member of the Hollywood Masonic Lodge No. 355, F. & A. M., the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and the Shrine.  John eventually moved back to Mount Morris and became a Greene County Deputy Sheriff. He was the oldest man to ever graduate from the Pennsylvania Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Training Program.

John will be greatly missed by his many family members and devoted friends.  At his request, there will be no formal service.
