Karen "Bubbie" Jean Marie Stuvek Harr, born June 15, 1955, passed away from surgery complications in Weirton, W. Va. on Sunday, May 12, 2019 surrounded by family. Bubbie was the daughter of the late Fred "Bear" Stuvek and Mary (Bertanzetti) Stuvek. She leaves behind her husband and best friend of 44 years, Clifford Harr, two children, Sara Shaffer (John) of Carmichaels and Thom Harr (Kerissa) of Weirton; four beautiful grandchildren, Emma and Patrick Holaren and Mary Shaffer of Carmichaels and Milo Harr of Weirton, her brothers and sisters, Tom Stuvek (Trish) of Carmichaels, Barb Hathaway of Carmichaels, Dave Stuvek (Roxie) of Carmichaels, Fred Stuvek (Linda) of Knoxville, Tenn. and Kelly Kozel (Kevin) of Carmichaels; her mother and father-in-law, Bill and Norma Harr of Carmichaels; her Aunt Gloria Jean Stuvek of Monaca, Pa; several cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and a great nephew.
Karen was a loving wife, mother and Bubbie. Her family was her life. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren daily, cheering along at sporting events and activities, playing games, having dance parties, you name it ... she was their number one fan. There are no words to express the love she had for her "grandbabies". They were her world.
She enjoyed hosting family functions at her house with cousins, nieces and nephews. Watching everyone run around, laughing and being together made her heart happy.
Bubbie touched the lives of everyone she knew, whether she met them for the first time or has known them for years, her smile, sense of humor and laughter was contagious and she could light up any room she walked into.
Bubbie taught for 35 years at Nemacolin and Crucible Elementary Schools which later became the Carmichaels Area Elementary Center and was famous for her in class cartwheels. She had a heart of gold and enjoyed "paying it forward", whether it was buying lunch for a random couple in a restaurant or stopping along the road to give a State Trooper "lunch money". She loved every minute of it.
She participated in the Relay for Life and volunteered in different organizations over the years. She was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church where she was also past members of the Altar Rosary Society, Choir, and served as a CCD teacher.
Mother's Day was the most important day of the year to Bubbie, the day she became a mom meant more then anything. Her kids were her life. She couldn't have chosen a better day to go with style and grace for us all to remember her and the impression she has left on our hearts as "mother bear."
If our Momma could have us remember anything . . . that is to love one another and be kind, just like she did.
