Kimberly Ann (Rahl) Decker, 52, of Khedive, Pa, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, April 14, 2024 in her home. Kimm was born March 26, 1972 in Uniontown Pa, the daughter of Barry and Janis (Nelson) Rahl. She attended Carmichaels Area High School, graduating in 1990. Kimm married her best friend, Donald “Ryan” Decker on September 8, 1990 and was soon elated to become a mother of two boisterous sons. Kimm was very proud to be a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. She doted on her boys’ every achievement and stayed very active in their academics, sport activities and social lives. She enjoyed volunteering for several sports boosters. She was known for being especially enthusiastic, cheering for her boys, as well as for their friends. As her children grew, Kimm proudly worked various jobs for the community. She worked as an office assistant, and served lunches for children at Carmichaels Area Elementary and Jr/Sr High Schools. Most recently, Kimm worked at WVU Medicine’s Uniontown Hospital in Nutrition and Dietetics. By far, though, Kimm’s most beloved and rewarding job was providing childcare in her home for infants and children of friends and family members. She loved all of her “babies,” as though they were her own. She left a positive and indelible impression on each of the children, while staying in close contact with them throughout the years.
Kimm was quite a character. Her laugh was hearty and her smile lit up a room. She was a huge fan of bright pink nails and anything cheetah-print. She was quick with a fashion compliment, always being the first to notice a new outfit or hairstyle. She took interest in the latest “scoop” in all the kids’ lives, keeping updated on new relationships, grades, school activities, friend drama, etc. Kimm’s emotions were genuine and heartfelt, and she loved spoiling others with special gifts and surprises. She loved her many golden retrievers over the years, beginning with “Loujack” and including her most recent golden boy, “Crosby.” She was an excellent cook and would jump to offer a plate of whatever goodies she had on the stove. She loved date nights with her husband, usually enjoying Mexican restaurants or chicken parmigiana at Caporella’s…always ordering her unsweetened tea with lemon. Kimm loved keeping her home clean and decorated, and always went above and beyond to make sure others felt welcome and comfortable in her home. Myrtle Beach was Kimm’s “happy place” and she spent almost every summer there with her friends and family over the years. In her honor, the family plans to continue to visit Kimm’s favorite oceanfront area that had brought her so many happy memories.
Kimm made every effort to be an attentive and loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother and grandmother throughout her lifetime.
Surviving is Kimm’s loving and devoted husband of 33 years, Donald “Ryan” Decker; and her proudest achievements in life, her two adoring sons, Kody Ryan Decker (Allison) of Midlothian, Va., and Logan Ryan Decker (Brooke) of Dilliner, Pa. She literally lived to make her boys happy, cherishing every moment as they grew into respectful, caring, helpful, hard-working, intelligent, determined and loving young men. She was so very proud of her family. Kimm’s dreams came true as she became a “Mimi” to the most precious loves of her life, her three surviving (and animated) granddaughters, Elena Marie Decker (3) of Dilliner, Pa., as well as Jacie Ryan (2) and Viviana James Decker (1) of Midlothian, Va. Kimm’s parents, surviving her, as well, are Barry and Janis Rahl; her sister Kelly Ann (William) Bupka, their daughter, Kaylin Grace Bupka and their son, Cannon Anthony Bupka, all of Carmichaels, Pa. Kimm’s brothers are also both surviving, Tyler David Rahl (Colleen) of Frederick, Md., and Tanner Matthew Rahl (Dasia) of Morgantown, W.Va. Also surviving, is Kimm’s step-daughter, Joya Canfield of Rockville, Md., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many special, life-long friends that Kimm loved so very much.
Kimm was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Phyllis June (Eberheart) Nelson and Charles S. Nelson Sr., Uncle Charles S. “Chuckie” Nelson Jr., and Aunt Susan (Nelson) Shea, as well as her paternal grandparents, Joann (Goe) Rahl and Richard Rahl, Uncle Richard “Dickie” Rahl, Uncle Robert “Reba” Rahl, Aunt Linda (Rahl) Mains, and Aunt Deborah K. (Rahl) Duvall.
At Kimm’s request, there will be no public viewing. A private Celebration of Life will be announced and held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, personal cards and letters of condolences can be mailed to the Decker and Rahl families in care of the Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
The Decker and Rahl families are so very grateful and moved by the outpouring of love from the community. They would especially like to mention and thank the many friends and family members who have shared short visits, quiet moments of reflection and memories, well wishes, phone calls, supportive texts and posts, as well as delicious food and hosting supplies for those coming together in mourning and shock. Folks from far and wide, friends of old and new, have all been a God-send of support and comfort during our time of extreme grief and loss.
