Krista Lynn Basinger, age 55 of Mather, Pa., passed away in her home March 19, 2025 with her family at her side after battling small cell carcinoma of the lungs since August 2024. She was born on September 23, 1969 in Waynesburg, Pa. to her loving parents William (Bill) Gardner and Georgeann (Kuharcik) Gardner of Mather. Her Dad always considered her his "right hand girl" who always came running to assist with any chores he needed help with. Krista was a 1987 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School and also gained her cosmetology license from the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy in Charleroi, Pa. She had worked at Bon-Ton, Rose's Beauty Salon in Washington, Pa. and Ross Beauty Shop in Waynesburg, Pa. On September 9, 2017 she married Samuel Basinger and for the past 8 years the both of them enjoyed each and every day of their lives together. They enjoyed camping always going for a week’s vacation at the time of their yearly anniversary. During the summer months they would stay at their camper on the "Basinger Farm". She always loved going to the casino with her best friend Sharon Rice of Clarksville. Krista was so proud of both her daughters, Paige Bedilion of Mather and Shae Bedilion of Waynesburg.
Surviving in addition to her husband Sam, parents and daughters, she is survived by her sister, Michelle Gardner Sheets of Mather, nephews Dylan Sheets (Alina) of California, Pa and Tyler Sheets of Mather, father-in-law Ben Basinger of Waynesburg and sister-in-law Dawn Basinger of Waynesburg. Also surviving is a Stepdaughter Destinee Basinger of Carmichaels, Pa. and her three children Ryker, Rayne, and Riot; Uncles, Kevin Kuharcik (Louise) of Dry Tavern, Pa. and Larry "Uncle Ikey" Kuharcik (Cheri) of Mather Cousin Jeremy in Nashville, Tenn., and Aunt Karen Burich (Ray) of Streetsboro, Ohio.
Deceased are her maternal grandparents, George and Bernice Kuharcik, paternal grandparents Bill and Violet Gardner and mother-in-law Karen Basinger. Krista was a Christian and affiliated with the Mather Christian Church.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at WVU, and the wonderful "walking angel" nurses at Hospice for all their kindness.
Per her request there will be no public visitation.
