Lavonne Carole Cutright Bargerstock, 82, of Garards Fort, Pa., passed into the arms of our Lord on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at her home. She was born July 12, 1937 in White Gate, Va., the daughter of Vennis Delustus and Dacie Helen (Sloan) Cutright.
Lavonne was baptized on January 29, 1950 at the Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Garards Fort and was married in that church on June 15, 1957 to Clare Franklin Bargerstock. The couple were married a total of sixty-two years. Lavonne was a member of the Uniontown Chapter 263 O.E.S. and served as Worthy Matron from 1981 to 1982.
Surviving are three children, Clare Delustus Bargerstock (Wendy), Denise Carole Marker (Rick) and Debra Ann Pompei (Mark); a granddaughter Christian Lynn Duckworth (Lynne); two loving great grandchildren, Jackson Lee and Jase Colton; two brothers, Marvin Cutright (Mary) and Hayden Cutright (Bridgette); Marilyn Hitchock, who was raised as a sister and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a brother, Jerry Lynn Cutright, who died in infancy and a daughter-in-law, Robin Lynn Bargerstock, who passed in 2006.
Lavonne was also a second mom to Tracy Renee Glidden and Lavonne cherished her "youngest child, Sid, the cat".
We come not with tears of sorrow, but tears of joy knowing that she is now at peace with her Lord and Savior and that one day, we who believe that Jesus died on the cross, that He rose on the third day and that He sits at the right hand of God our Father, have a great peace and assurance in knowing that we will see her again in the mansion that God has prepared special for her.
She has always been a woman of strong faith who shared her faith openly with her children, family and friends.
The Lord has blessed her over the years with many gifts and talents. She greatly enjoyed all types of needle work, knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, tole painting and what I feel was her most favorite - quilting. Each of the quilts she made for each of us were made with much love and a specific meaning behind each quilt. A bit of history in each she gave. She greatly cherished her time with her quilting friends. We all knew not to schedule anything on Tuesday mornings for this was quilting time with her friends. She loved hymns and gospel music, singing in the church choir and watching the Gaither's on Saturday nights brought her and Clare much happiness.
She also loved all of God's creatures. She enjoyed watching birds in the yard, squirrels in the trees, flocks of turkeys in the field, the old crippled doe, who for years had a set of twin fawns born up on the hill in the berry patch and not to mention, the baby ducks that swam in the laundry tub splashing water all over the laundry room, and of course, the horses, one of which walked into the garage and into the laundry room to show mom his boo boo, or even the baby lambs and calves kept in boxes in the corner of the kitchen so they could be fed every hour to two hours around the clock and kept warm. Always thinking like a loving mom caring for her kids. But we can't forget the infamous pig chase, which happened one day when she wasn't home. That is when Edith and George escaped their pen and oh what a chase! For years Betty & Harry Johnson and Betty and Jay Wilson would talk about it and we still even today laugh about it. God left many of His creatures in her tender care.
A quote from Kennyson - "Death is a tragedy for the survivors because we grieve the physical loss of our loved ones. Yet when we and our loved ones know Christ a joy and peace comes from knowing they are with our risen savior."
Talking with her family and close friends Lavonne spoke of experiencing a great peace that she received from the Lord several weeks before learning of her illness. In the quiet time with the Lord she felt him take her hand and she was overcome with that great peace.
Even in Lavonne's death, she wanted to share her faith. Her wish was for each of us is to always search for the peace of the Lord in our lives, to live and work in service of our Lord, to have the joy of a church family and friends that we can depend on and to rejoice always in all circumstances of life good and bad.
Lavonne wanted to especially thank Dorothy Murray, Carol Ludwig and Amanda Spotznogle for the great loving and compassionate care they have given her. And a special thank you to all of her friends and family who came to visit.
She always said she had a good life. The Lord in her heart, her husband-soul mate and best friend, children who know the Lord and for each of us to love the Lord.
We who believe in our Lord have died along with Christ and will also rise again and live forever in the house of our Lord. So we may now weep for the moment, but we can rest assured that joy comes in the morning when our family will be rejoined together as one with our Lord.
