Lawrence E. Schifko, Sr.

Lawrence E. Schifko, Sr., 84, of Adah, Pa. and formerly of Rices Landing and Carmichaels, Pa., passed away at 4:14 A.M. On Wednesday, November 17, 2021 in his home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 24, 1937 in Rices Landing, a son of the late Elmer and Julia (Blizman) Schifko. Mr. Schifko was a 1957 graduate of Jefferson Morgan High School and served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked at Atlantic Research in Alexandria, Va. and later for McGinnis Steel Co. In Corry, Pa. In Greene County, Mr. Schifko worked for 15 years at the Gateway Coal Company. He was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Masontown, Pa., the United Mine Workers of America, American Legion Post 423, Masontown, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491, Carmichaels, the Slavonic Club in Crucible, Pa. and the Nemacolin Citizens Club. Mr. Schifko enjoyed antique cars and trucks, playing cards, collecting coins and traveling. On February 26, 1965 he married Linda K. Sager, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Lawrence Schifko, Jr. (Michelle) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a daughter, Lori Schifko Krause of Murrells Inlet, S. C.; a sister, Deanna Strickland of Leland, N. C.; a sister-in-law, Earlene V. Schifko of Waynesburg, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a brother, Elmer William "Bud" Schifko and a brother-in-law, I. B. Strickland.
