Madge Ann Ramsey Tipping, 91, of Howell, Michigan passed away Dec 31, 2019, a result of a massive stroke suffered four days earlier. She died as she wished, without life saving measures. She was born Sept 5, 1928 in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Youles J Ramsey and Esther L Wright Ramsey Frydendall. Surviving are four children: Kathleen Annette Morsehead (Rick), Patricia Suzanne Mathena (Rusty), Rebecca Lee Harper (Mark) and Robert Gordon Tipping. Grandchildren: Matthew Morsehead (Kristin), Reegan Barber (Ryan), Ross Mathena, Travis Ewing and Kelsey Ewing. Great Grandchildren: Scarlett Morsehead, Langston Morsehead, Coral Morsehead, Beckett Barber and Jaxson Barber. Brother, Joe Max Ramsey. Sister, Barbara Jean Ramsey Bernabe (Raymond). She was preceded in death by infant son, Roderick Graham Tipping Jr and Grandson, Richard Graham Morsehead.
Madge was strong, vivacious, and outgoing. She was filled with love for her family and people. She had a quick, beautiful, engaging smile; greeting all with genuine friendliness. She'd offer encouragement to those she sensed as hurting or troubled. She spoke her mind freely, whether she should or not. She was, at times, a bit sassy. A true homemaker of her time, she tended to her family full time. She was a talented cook over a camp stove or range in the home. She was the family's resident barber/stylist. She was a talented seamstress (designing her own patterns), creating clothing and costumes (for both children and Barbie dolls), wedding dresses for all three of her daughters, drapes, reupholstering furniture, whatever she or others wished. Madge enjoyed swimming, she had a beautiful crawl stroke and attractive, well executed dives. She possessed a beautiful voice. When singing in church, her voice sounded professionally distinct. She shared her love of music and song while traveling by car for family vacations. Many songs she learned as a young girl have been passed onto her grandchildren. She loved dancing and was accomplished. She had been approached while in her mid-teens to join a professional dance troupe. With her passion for dancing, she would get family, friend or "just met" friend onto the dance floor for a lesson or just to enjoy the dance. She was open and willing to try new activities and adventures. She was resourceful and clever with finding solutions. She helped her children with countless projects around their homes; carpentry, yard work and garage sales. She’d help anyway she could. She was a little thing, but strong. A very hard worker, unafraid to roll up her sleeves and get things done. She was digging trenches with her son in her late eighties! She instilled a "Can do attitude!" into her children and grandchildren by example. She would happily be interrupted from reading a book to talk about the day or wherever the conversation led. The day before her stroke she had enjoyed a beautiful day outside, filled with sunshine and laughs while helping rake leaves and cleaning the driveway of her home. She loved being with her family; sharing meals, playing cards, board games, anything that was on the agenda. She was fearless in many ways and lived a spirited life, right up until the end, without complaints. She loved us, we loved her, and she will be missed!
