Margaret Oravetz Slonka, 94, of Lexington, S. C. and formerly of Detroit, Mich., Connecticut and Florida, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at her home. She was born December 21, 1924 in Republic, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank and Ann (Lakatosh) Oravetz. Mrs. Slonka worked for the Packard Motor Car Company in Detroit, Mich. and retired from the Schick Safety Razor Company in 1973 after working there for 10 years. She enjoyed ball room dancing and playing bingo. Her first husband, Michael Volchko, died in 1968 and her second husband, Harry Slonka, died in 1974.
Surviving are a son, Michael J. Volchko of Fort Pierce, Fla.; a daughter, Dr. Christine Beyer (Will) with whom she made her home in Lexington; four grandchildren, Erin Kimball (Ken), Susan Bowen (Jason), John Volchko (Rachel) and Tommy Beyer (Brittany); 11 great grandchildren, Raymond, Brianna, Tyler, Kenneth, Lauren, Cooper, Kyle, Christian, Caitlin, Emma and Veronica; a brother, William Oravetz (Judy) of Cardwell, Mo. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Frank Oravetz, Steve Oravetz, Michael Oravetz and Edward Oravetz and two sisters Ann Watson and Elizabeth Dorsey.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the St. Matthias Parish at St. Hugh, 408 Route 88, Carmichaels with the Rev. J. Francis Frazer as celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Mary's Orthodox Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.
