Michelle Ann Popernack, 61, of Bobtown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 9, 2026. She was born on September 24, 1964, in Waynesburg, the daughter of the late Isaac N. Lewis, Sr. and Patricia Joy (Pollock) Lewis.
Michelle was a graduate of Mapletown High School, Class of 1982. She worked as the office manager of the East Dunkard Water Authority for 40 years. On June 15, 1985, she married her beloved husband, George A. Popernack, who survives.
Michelle enjoyed planting flowers and growing her own trees and plants, particularly apple trees and vegetables. She loved feeding and watching birds. She was a country music fan, and loved to watch Pittsburgh Steelers football. Several times a year, she'd enjoy vacations to Lake Erie, as well as trips to Amish Country in Berlin and Sugarcreek, Ohio.
Her affection for her family was apparent in the way she cherished her time spent with them. Michelle loved her parents dearly. She never missed a baseball or football game, or wrestling match; she was her three sons' biggest fan. She happily welcomed her family's newest addition, her first sweet grandbaby, Grant, who stole her heart.
Along with her husband, she will be lovingly remembered by her sons: Nicholas Popernack (Jessica) of Jefferson, Christopher Popernack (Renee) of Dilliner, and Keith Popernack of Bobtown; grandsons, Grant Popernack and Eli Hutchison; brothers, Randy P. Lewis (Noreen) of Garards Fort, Barrett K. Lewis (Gayle) of Rices Landing, Isaac N. Lewis, Jr. (Vee) of Garards Fort, Mark E. Lewis (Jennette) of Carmichaels, and Michael A. Lewis (Mary) of Carmichaels; sisters, Donna R. Rodavich (Dave) of Garards Fort, Diane Ewart (Ralph) of Carmichaels, and Connie Sherman (Frank) of Greensburg; brother-in-law, John Lund; sisters-in-law, Diane Prete (Mark), Jeannie Stacey, and Pauline Emerson (Mike); numerous nieces and nephews, and her dog, Daisy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce L. Lund, and her brother-in-law, Mark Stacey.
Family and friends are welcome from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Yoskovich Funeral Home, Inc., Carmichaels, where a funeral service will be held at 8:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Michelle's memory to the Alzheimer's Association .
