Norma Jean Harr

Norma Jean Harr, 93, of Carmichaels, Pa., passed away peacefully while holding the hand of her oldest granddaughter on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital. She was born on May 22, 1933, in Cumberland Township, a daughter of the late Arvel F. Headley and Sara E. (Crago) Headley.

Norma graduated from Carmichaels High School in 1951 and attended Penn Commercial Business School in Washington, Pa. where she earned her associate degree.

Norma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and “GG” who cherished every moment spent with her family. In her younger years, she worked as a finance secretary and found joy in cooking, decorating, caring for her indoor plants, listening to music, dancing the Jitterbug and polka, and taking long drives to admire the countryside. Through it all, she was rarely seen without her rings, bracelets, and a stylish pair of heels, even for a simple trip to the grocery store.

She faithfully supported her husband, Bill, in all of his business ventures, working alongside him and handing out quarters to family visitors for the candy machines at Harr’s Gasoline City and Just Bill’s. All of her life, she made sure every visitor was welcomed into her home with something to eat or drink.

In her later years, Norma especially looked forward to Saturday/Sunday breakfasts with her son and daughter, spending time with her grandchildren, and loved hearing about what all they were up to and where they were traveling to. She also loved sharing each day with her feline companion, Walter, the last five years. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and lately enjoyed the game show network watching Family Feud and The Chase.

Norma had a contagious laugh that could bring a smile to anyone around her until her final days, even telling the doctors her favorite jokes that always brought wide eyes and laughter to everyone who heard them.

Surviving are her children, Clifford Harr and Kelly Kozel (Kevin), both of Carmichaels; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Sara Shaffer of Carmichaels, Thom Harr of Pittsburgh, Kyleigh Kozel of Carmichaels, Tristan Kozel of Houston, Texas, Emma Holaren, Patrick Holaren, Mary Shaffer of Carmichaels, and Milo Harr of Pittsburgh; her sister, Beverly Mapel (Foster) of Wooster, Ohio; her brother, Robert Headley (Shirley) of Carmichaels; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Walter Harr, Jr., her in-laws, William Walter, Sr. and Helen (Mezatis) Harr, and her daughter-in-law, Karen Harr.

Family and friends are welcome from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Yoskovich Funeral Home, Inc., Carmichaels. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, 104 E. Greene St., Carmichaels. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park.
