Phillip Girard Davis, 82, of Nemacolin, Pa., passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025 in his home. He was born August 30, 1942 to Barbara (Davis) Rines. At age 19 Phillip enlisted in The United States Army and served for over 20 years as a Combat Medic. He was a member of the 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Air Mobile) and fought in the La Drang Valley in 1965, and later during TET in 1968. He spent three tours in Vietnam and suffered from PTSD from his combat experiences. He served in Germany, Italy, and various duty stations in the United States during his career. He earned numerous awards both in the United States and Vietnam with Oak Leaf Clusters. While in combat, Phillip was used by God and ministered medically and spiritually to many wounded soldiers. He was the eldest of six children and accepted Christ at the early age of three. He would often stand on chicken crates and pretend to preach to his siblings as an audience. Since Phillip was the oldest, he helped raise his siblings and would often contribute financially by shoe shining, paper routes, car washes, and other odd jobs available. Phillip was an ordained Minister through the affiliation of the Church of God in Christ. He Pastored a few years in a home-based ministry. Later he began his evangelist ministry in the communities where he resided. For the last 25 years Phillip resided in Nemacolin, Pa. where his friendly and loving spirit captured numerous friendships and acquaintances of all ages. He encouraged the young in many ways including pursuing their education. He had a warm smile with warm heart. Phillip was a loving brother, uncle and great uncle. Surviving are two brothers, Darwin R. Pilson (Yvonne) of Oregon and Perry M. Pilson, Jr. of Bear, Del.; five sisters, Sharon “Londi” Y. McDonald of New Kensington, Pa., Donna L. Parks of Martinsburg, W. Va., Bessie R. Pilson of Newark, Del., Precious Jones (Carmen) and Norma Pilson, both of New Kensington; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by his mother Barbara R. Rines, stepfather Perry M. Pilson, Sr., brother-in-law Stanley G. McDonald and sister-in-law Erma Pilson. Family and friends are welcome from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M., the time of the funeral service on Thursday, March 6, 2025 in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. The Minister Carmen Jones will officiate. The Greene County Honor Guard will accord military honors at the funeral home following the funeral service. Private interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pa.
