Shirley Jeannine (Forkin) Gasti of Bobtown, Pa., changed her address to Heavenly Acres and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2025. She was born May 23, 1935 in Bobtown, to the late Richard J. and Mary E. (Craft) Forkin. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gasti; her sons, Michael R. Gasti and John A. Gasti; brother, Richard (Dickie) Forkin; and sister, Mary (Darlene) Carpenter.
Shirley is survived by her very special and loving children and spouses, daughter, Denise R. Gasti and Cheryl L. Saxton of Alameda, Cal.; son, Chuck and Roxanne Gasti of Carmichaels, Pa.; son, James Gasti of Bobtown, Pa.; daughter, Michele K. and Richard Yelenik of Savage, Md.; and brother, Dale E. and Ella Forkin of Royersford, Pa.
She treasured every moment with her loving grandchildren, Nicole, Charles, Natalie, Stephen, Marissa, Allison and Nathan; her wonderful great grandchildren, Bailey, Nash, Ace, Cooper, Jackson, Declan, Asher and Brighton; nieces, Beth (Roger), Belinda (Tommy), Debbie (Chris), Deanna, and their children and grandchildren, and many other loving extended family members.
Shirley retired from the U.S. Department of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration, with 22 years of service. She was an active union member and past steward of the American Federation of Government Employees. She also worked for the Southeastern Greene School District for 10 years.
Shirley was an active member of the Bobtown United Methodist Church, which was a blessed part of her life where she was a Lay Leader, Sunday school teacher, treasurer and president of the United Methodist Women, superintendent, council president, youth leader, member of the pastor parish committee and the choir.
Family and friends are welcome from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Yoskovich Funeral Home, Inc., located at 300 S. Vine St., Carmichaels, Pa. An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at the Bobtown United Methodist Church, 889 Crescent Ave., Bobtown, where a service will immediately follow with Rev. Gale Cobb and Rev. Ed Hanley officiating. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park.
