Stephen A. Hillsman, Jr., 76, of Mentor, Ohio, formally of Crucible and Carmichaels, Pa., died at 2:25 P.M. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Heartland of Mentor, Mentor, OH after a brief illness. He was born September 5, 1941 in Nemacolin, Pa., a son of the late Stephen A. and Susan K. (Sokol) Hillsman. Stephen attended Cumberland Township High School and served in the U. S. Navy from 1959 to 1962. He retired after working for many years at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corporation in Allenport, Pa. Stephen was a member of Our Lady of Consolation Parish. He was a past commander of Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and a member of the AMVets Post 109, Mentor. He enjoyed fishing and devoted much of his time attending sporting events with his grandchildren.
Surviving are four sons, James Kelley and his wife, Dee, of Mentor, Ohio, Gregory Hillsman and his wife, Bonnie, of Rices Landing, Pa., David Hillsman and his wife, Kate, of Carmichaels, Pa., and Todd Hillsman and his wife, Jennifer, of Mentor, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Erin, Jaime, Emily, Casey, Lacie, Zachary, Carson, McKenzie, Morgan, and Sydney; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a grandson, Nicholas Hillsman
Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Pastor John Rich Dorean will officiate.
Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and the United States Navy will conduct military honors at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cumberland American Legion Post 400, 205 E. George St., Carmichaels, PA 15320.
