Steve Guritza

Steve Guritza, 89, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, formerly of Mather, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026. He was born on December 23, 1936, in Greensboro, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John and Mary Guritza. On August 12, 1961, he married the late Barbara (Glibert) Guritza.

Steve was a graduate of Mapletown High School. He was a licensed barber and for a time owned his own barber shop in Greensboro. He later worked at a barber shop in Waynesburg before beginning a career in coal mining. Steve worked for Duquesne Light at the Warwick Mine until his retirement. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

Steve was a football fan, with a love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed fast food, especially Panera Bread and Chick-Fil-A. He also enjoyed puzzle books. He remained active by going to the EQT Rec Center three days a week.

He is survived by his son, Bradley Guritza (Valerie) of Cheyenne, Wyo.; grandchildren, Ashley, Andrew, Austin, and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Harper and Bralyn; son-in-law, Mark Lemley, and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Judi Lemley; brothers, Pete and Albert Guritza; and sister, Libby Guritza.

An inurnment service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Greensboro, with Rev. Thomas Lewandowski as celebrant.
