Susan Joyce Moon

Susan Joyce Moon, 64, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, with her three sons by her side. She was born on September 3, 1962, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the late Elmer and Frances (Carducci) Kirkpatrick.

Susan was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School. Over the course of her career, she held several nursing jobs, working at Allegheny Valley Schools in McKees Rocks, and Heritage Valley Hospital in Sewickley, among others. Beyond her work, Susan enjoyed crocheting, reading, and watching true crime television shows. She especially loved her time spent with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Joseph Cowser (Nicole) of Canonsburg, Justin Cowser of Wintersville, and Jayson Cowser of Weirton, W.Va.; grandchildren, Bella, Jacob, Connor, AJ and Nathan; sisters, Linda Chufo of Hubbard, Ohio, and Marlene Penna (Ray) of Wintersville; stepchildren, Brenden Moon, Trevor Moon, and Carissa Moon; the father of her three children, Denny Cowser; and sister-in-law, Kelly Sadler of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Kirkpatrick; sister-in-law, Stephanie Kirkpatrick, and brother-in-law, Michael Chufo.
