Virginia Curtis Kerr

Virginia Curtis Kerr, 96, of Carmichaels, Pa., passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 in her home. She was born September 29, 1925 in Connellsville, Pa., the daughter of the late Robert W. and Grace E. (DeBolt) Grim. Mrs. Kerr resided in Carmichaels since 1932 and became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carmichaels on April 2, 1940. Upon graduation from Cumberland Township High School in 1943, she took a job with the ration board with the Federal Government in Hawaii for a year. When Mrs. Kerr returned from Hawaii, she began to work with the Veterans Administration in Pittsburgh, Pa. On August 14, 1946, she married John F. Curtis, who died February 16, 1986. After raising her family, Mrs. Kerr worked as a teller at the First National Bank of Carmichaels (Community Bank) from 1972 until her retirement in 1990. On December 27, 1991, she married Rodney I. Kerr , who died September 25, 2009.

Mrs. Kerr was active in the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church as a member of the chancel choir and the Women in the Church. She was also a member of Carmichaels Grange No. 1389 and the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Kerr was an avid sports fan and followed the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, Penn State and Jefferson-Morgan Baseball. She cherished her family and her extended family.

Surviving are two sons, John R. Curtis (Cindy) of Rices Landing, Pa. and Richard A. Curtis (Ellen) of Jeannette, Pa.; a daughter, Karen C. King of Waynesburg, Pa.; a step-son, William R. Kerr (Jackie) of Markleysburg, Pa.; a step-daughter, Deborah G. Crouse (Lewis) of Sycamore, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Lisa Bierer Garber (John), Lynn Bierer Zalar (Grant), Tommy Curtis (Ali), A. J. Curtis (Tiffany), Jeremiah Lewis, Ruth Grooms, Darren Paul Crouse (Natalie) and Travis Cole Crouse (Amy); 15 great grandchildren, Kaylee, Cole, Tanner, Cobie, Ashton, Zachery (Summer), Paige, Kirsten, Claire, Lucas, Sophie, Levi, Arielle, Caleb and Mallory and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in additional to her husbands, John and Rodney, is a son-in-law, James F. King, Jr.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, 104 East Greene Street, Carmichaels. Pastor P. Keith Larson will officiate.

Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 363, Carmichaels, PA 15320.

Also, due to COVID-19, the family suggests that you wear a mask while in the funeral home.
