William L. Watson, Sr.

William L. Watson, Sr., 79, of Carmichaels, Pa. and formerly of Mapletown, Pa., passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 in his home. He was born August 30, 1942 in Mapletown, a son of the late Robert F. and Mabel M. (Tanner) Watson. Bill worked as a cable splicer for Verizon for 40 years retiring in 2003. After retirement, he began working for Lowes in Morgantown, W. Va. in 2005 and then transferred to the Uniontown Lowes store where he was currently employed. Bill enjoyed woodworking, coin collecting, playing golf, traveling, trout fishing and playing cards including poker. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a former social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491.

Surviving are his wife, Dolores E. (Lutes) Watson; a son, Mark W. Watson (Melissa) of Holly Springs, N. C.; two step daughters, Annette Roberts of Carmichaels and Janet Schamp of Somerset, Pa.; a step son, Edward Janco (Tonya) of Georgetown, S. C.; nine grandchildren, Lyra Watson, Samantha Watson, Jacob Watson, Alizah Roberts, Carlee Roberts, James Schamp (Constance), Christina Schamp, Preston Janco and Kenney Janco; a great grandson, Emmett William Schamp; two sisters, Betty Mae Waggett of Carmichaels and Jean Marie Keener (Jack) of Greensboro, Pa. and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a son William L. Watson, Jr.; a great grandson, Rowan Edward Schamp; a brother, Robert L. Watson; a nephew, Jack K. Waggett and a brother-in-law, Donald Leroy Waggett.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Carmichaels, Pa. where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. The Rev. Dayton D. Mix will officiate.

Interment will follow at Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to UPMC Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
